A lot of people have mechanical limbs on the Archipelago. Anansi however is unable to get any, though she could afford them. The kind of magic used to heal her inuries when she lost her arm were very powerful and not very carefully controlled. They saved her life, but the lingering magic from the spell makes her incompatible with magical mechanical limbs. She doesn't mind that much anyway, her scarves are just as good and are a lot easier to keep clean.
